Maximize your reading range by utilizing high-quality RFID cards and installing the reader in environments free from noise and metal interference.
The quality of RFID cards significantly impacts the reader's performance. Inferior cards might reduce the reading range by up to 50%. Meanwhile, specialized 'thick' RFID cards with enhanced coil turns can extend the GP99 reader's range beyond the standard 90-130cm.
Operating at a main frequency of 125Khz, the reader's performance can be impacted by noise, such as that from CRT monitors. Other 125Khz RFID readers can also interfere with its range from several meters away. GP99 includes a special command to assess current noise levels, detailed in section 9.
To maintain optimal performance, avoid installing on metal surfaces or near metal grids inside concrete walls. The GP99 125KHz Card Reader for Parking Systems includes advanced auto-tuning circuitry for metal compensation (see section 7), yet optimal reading range is achieved in metal-free settings.
